Topaz is
losing
users before they
they become LPs, lockers, and voters.
We identified 82 friction points that stop users from providing liquidity, locking TOPAZ, voting, and the incentives that keep flywheel spinning.
Showreel
Opportunity
Topaz has already done the hard part - launching, expanding across chains, and pushing volume through the product. What’s left is converting that activity into revenue with as little friction as possible.
Every epoch, Topaz pays emissions to attract liquidity. Every point of friction between a first swap and a first lock means those emissions buy less.
To put it in perspective: 54 of the issues we found are a Level 2 or 3 error.
If each one cost just 0.1% of potential volume, together they’d leave over 5% on the table. At your current pace, that’s more than $15M in volume every month, or roughly $185M a year. These numbers are of course illustrative, not a forecast, but the principle holds, small leaks compound.
Our job is to close these leaks, so every bit of volume and activity can be captured just the right way.
Product Audit
We reviewed Topaz’s landing page, protocol pages and core flows (Swap, Explore, Liquidity, Governance and Portfolio) from both a UX and visual standpoint.
This made up just 73% of the product itself and already presented us with 82 errors.
7 of these errors we'd consider critical - places where you’re likely losing volume, liquidity and user attention right now.
Each error costs you in at least one of four ways:
1
Perception:
Visual and UX inconsistencies that make the product feel less premium than it is.
They don’t hit revenue directly, but they lower trust, and trust is what turns a swapper into someone willing to lock their tokens for months.
2
Conversion:
A point where users who are ready to act, drop off before they swap, add liquidity, lock or vote.
3
Retention:
Gaps that give users fewer reasons to come back, recast votes each epoch, or keep their liquidity on Topaz.
4
Direct Revenue:
Places where you’re losing volume, liquidity and incentive spend.

There is insufficient guidance for beginners. The interface assumes users already understand pool selection, position types, and the associated risks. Introduce contextual guidance, plain-language explanations, and clear recommendations to help new users make informed decisions.
Conversion / Retention
Portfolio
UX
2
Pool recommendations are not personalised to the user’s existing balance. Users must independently identify pools that match the assets they hold. Recommend relevant pools based on their balances, e.g. “You hold USDT - try USDT/USDC,” with appropriate risk context and clear explanations of potential risks.
Conversion
Portfolio
UX
2
Position type selection happens too late in the flow. Position type significantly affects the user’s strategy, management effort, and risk, yet it is not introduced early enough. Move the selection to Step 1 and present the available options as cards: Auto (managed), Concentrated (manual range), and Basic/full range if supported. Explain the trade-offs of each option.

Comments persist when navigating from Explore Pools. Comments from the Explore Pools view carry over into the next view, creating a potential context mismatch. Ensure comments are correctly scoped to the relevant pool or view, and reset or update them when navigation changes context.

The portfolio breakdown excludes important asset categories. The current calculation only accounts for tokens, omitting liquidity positions, veTOPAZ locks, xTOPAZ/staked assets, Relays, and unclaimed rewards. Include all relevant categories in the portfolio total and visualise their relative contributions using a stacked bar or donut chart.

The dashboard lacks richer portfolio visualisations. Introduce additional relevant charts and breakdowns to help users understand portfolio composition, position distribution, and performance at a glance. Prioritise visualisations that provide actionable insight rather than adding charts purely for decoration.

Our Approach
Rather than asking you to commit to a retainer upfront, we’d like to prove the impact on one page first:
1
Pick one page - we start with the page you believe matters most.
Our recommendation is Portfolio: it’s where every user type comes back to, yet it currently leaves out LP positions, veTOPAZ locks and unclaimed rewards, and gives users no PnL, no alerts and no reason to act.
It’s the page with the most retention upside.
2
3
What you get - a full redesign of that page built around every finding in the audit, plus:
an annotated before and after showing exactly what changed and why
a clickable prototype so your team can explore the new experience
a dev-ready Figma file your engineers can build from directly
4
How we work - we join your team on Telegram, Slack or whatever you already use, and we’re happy to join sync calls in any time zone.
You’ll get daily progress updates, and revisions are usually turned around the same day.
5
What happens next - if the page delivers the impact you want, we roll the rest of the audit into a retainer.
We estimate all 82 issues, plus anything new we find along the way, will take about two 4-week cycles.
Offer
$1,000
USDC
One page redesigned, prototyped and annotated, with a dev-ready Figma file.
The $1,000 is credited in full towards your first retainer payment. If you continue, the pilot effectively costs you nothing. If you don’t, you keep the redesign.
$5,750
/first 4 weeks then $6,750
Paid upfront at the start of each 4-week period.
Pause at any time, and any unused capacity stays available for 90 days.
Cancel anytime.
We expect two cycles to clear the full audit. It starts with a kickoff meeting to prioritise the fixes with the biggest impact on volume and retention, and every deliverable is handed over dev-ready.
The same tangible impact is why teams like Variational, Taostats and Hippius work with us.

It was great working with the v21 team, they're very professional and provide quality work no matter the request

Matrica

We actually very much liked the process and the communication between the teams. We had some nightmare experiences with other teams, and none of the red flags were present with v21.

Taostats, Aug 2026
v21 is extremely responsive, communicative, and overall talented. It’s rare to find a design partner who cares so much about the work they’re delivering, and it shows.

We've worked with v21 for website rebuilds twice. Their team is efficient and easy to work with!
Selected Works
Designing a new website ahead of a
$50M Series A.
We redesigned and localized Variational’s website across 7 regional markets, helping make the product clearer and more compelling for a global audience. We also created motion graphics to support multiple product launches.
Turning Pacifica’s
$9 billion
monthly trading volume into a social arena.
We independently reimagined Pacifica’s points page, transforming it from a passive spreadsheet into a live leaderboard built around competition. Traders can see who’s climbing, who just overtook them, and who’s close to taking the top spot, giving every trade more visibility, context, and social stakes.
Re-designing a data heavy product from A-Z for
1M+ unique users.
Our focus was simplifying dense, data-heavy experiences so users can understand, navigate, and act on complex information with less friction ahead of the new product launch. Our case study will be released post-launch of the redesign in October 2026.
Making
1.1+ PB
of decentralized storage feel simple.
We redesigned the Hippius experience around one core challenge: making decentralized storage understandable and usable at scale. We translated a complex infrastructure product into a clearer, more approachable experience for users storing, managing, and interacting with data across the network.
Seen enough?
Let’s build something worth scaling.
